Laura Kerr, M.S.I.S.
Laura Kerr is the Administrative Service Coordinator for African American Studies, American Studies, and Gender, Women's & Sexuality Studies. Serving as a public facing liaison, she supports students, faculty, staff, and the public, assists with course scheduling, purchases, department websites, and creating promotional materials.
She received a bachelor’s degree in American Studies with a certificate in Museum Studies from the University of Iowa and a master’s in Information Science from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville. She has presented at conferences including Conversation on Collecting Yellowstone discussing the Midwestern experience of vacation and exploration in Yellowstone through collections at the University of Iowa.
For African American Studies, Laura's responsibilities include:
- Departmental phone, mail, and email management
- Course scheduling and classroom assignments
- Event planning, setup, and promotion
- Meeting scheduling, minutes, and agendas
- Purchasing requests and travel reimbursements
- Newsletters, course flyers, and student communications
